Sue Czech and her son Louis work quickly Monday to get new letters up on the Community Events board outside the old village hall building in downtown Algonquin. They picked the date weeks ago to change the sign, advertising the Shamrock Shave fundraiser at St. Margaret Mary parish, not knowing they would be out working in brutal below-zero temperatures. Mercifully for them, the sign and its cover provided shelter from the wind while they worked. The Czech family lives in Algonquin.
