Local Norge athletes to represent U.S. at Jr. World Championships in Italy

Kevin Bickner of Wauconda and A.J. Brown of Fox River Grove will represent the U.S.A. in Italy for the upcoming Ski Jumping Junior World Championships in Trentino, Italy later this month.

The pair earned two of the four U.S. Team positions at the National Junior World Tryouts in Park City, Utah this past weekend.

Bickner and Brown are members of the Norge Ski Club & Training Center in Fox River Grove. Both live and train in Park City, Utah at the site of the 2002 Olympic Games and of the recent Olympic Tryouts for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined which was televised on NBC this past Sunday. (Cary athlete, U.S. Ski Team and fellow Norge member Michael Glasder finished fourth at the Olympic Trials).

They will join 78 of the best Junior Ski Jumpers in the World, ages 16 through 19, who will descend upon the Val di Fiemme in Italy for this year's Nordic Junior World Ski Championships which take place Jan. 28 through Feb. 2.

Norge Ski Club will be holding its own winter tournament Jan. 25-26.

Elite Ski Jumpers on the U.S. Team will compete against International athletes in the Five Hills Tour which will be held both Saturday and Sunday.
