Harper College presenting ‘Driving Miss Daisy’
Harper College is presenting “Driving Miss Daisy” weekends Aug. 30 through Sept. 8.
The timeless Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the warmhearted, humorous and poignant tale of a decades-long relationship between an elderly, stubborn white Southern matriarch and her proud but soft-spoken African-American chauffeur. Amid the backdrop of the country’s civil rights movement, the pair’s unlikely bond transcends prejudice and celebrates the transformative power of friendship.
The play will be performed Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. in the Drama Lab Theatre, Building L, Room L109.
On Sundays at 1 p.m., Director Kevin Long and Dramaturg Richard Middleton Kaplan will discuss the play, its setting and history, and Harper’s production over complimentary coffee.
Tickets are $12 for Harper students, faculty/staff and seniors; $15 for general admission. Contact the Box Office, (847) 925-6100, for information.
