Youth Fall Auditions to include Black Box Theatre's Romeo & Juliet, Kids Company's The Bible Story of Joseph and the Youth Ensemble's
The Performing Arts Academy at Fox Valley Repertory is proud to offer advanced, audition-only programs for multiple age groups this fall. These early fall programs at the FVR Performing Arts Academy are taught by highly experienced professionals to offer quality performance opportunities to the best and brightest talents in the Fox Valley area. On August 25- September 9, they will hold auditions for Black Box Theatre's Romeo and Juliet, Kids Company's The Bible Story of Joseph and the Youth Ensemble's Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. Auditions will be hosted at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Main St, St. Charles, IL; admin telephone 630-443-0438).
Advanced Level Class, Black Box Theatre Experience: Romeo and Juliet
The FVR Performing Arts Academy is proud to announce that Black Box Theatre is coming back for another season! Black Box Theatre is a class for advanced mature high school and college students. It is performed in a specific presentational style that highlights the capabilities of the performers. The Black Box Theatre program offers the opportunity to perform more challenging material with an intense six week rehearsal, concluding with a free performance to the public.
This is an audition-only program for experienced performers. Auditions are Sunday, August 25 from 3:00-5:00pm, or Monday, August 27 from 5:00 – 7:00pm, at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL). Prepare a 1-minute SHAKESPEARE monologue, which portrays the character you are most interested in playing. Do not use a monologue from the show. Kids Company, The Bible Story of Joseph
The FVR Performing Arts Academy invites kids in grades 2-8 to audition for The Bible Story of Joseph. This showcase will feature songs from “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and is produced by Self-Esteem for Life Foundation, a program that helps build self-esteem among young people.
Kids Company is a fast- paced class, where members learn the craft of the theater through the process of preparing and performing age appropriate material. Kids Company also allows young students to be cast in roles that would be commonly given to older students.
This is an audition only program and auditions will be held Sunday, August 25 from 1:00-3:00pm or Monday, August 26 from 5:00-7:00pm at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL).
Youth Ensemble Musical, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr.
The FVR Performing Arts Academy invites kids in grades 5-12 to audition for the Youth Ensemble Musical of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. Students in this ensemble will venture through the sea through song and dance, featuring familiar songs from Disney's The Little Mermaid.
This is an audition only program. Auditions will be held Sunday, September 8 from 3:00-5:00pm and on Monday, September 9 from 5:30-7:30pm. Actors are asked to Bring an 8 x 10 headshot (Google 'Actor's Headshot) attached to a proper actor's resume (Google 'Actor's Resume' for examples). Please memorize a 1 minute monologue in the style of the show which portrays a character you are most interested in playing. You will also need to prepare and memorize 32 bars of a song from a similar show. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Do not bring CDs or sing a song from the show. Singing a capella is not recommended. Be prepared to dance with proper shoes and clothing. Newcomers are strongly encouraged to enroll in a class prior to auditioning for an advanced program.
