Bluegrass band to perform Friday in Ringwood
Submitted by McHenry County Conservation District
Sit back and enjoy a fall evening of musical entertainment with Truman’s Ridge from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, on the back patio of the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.
Start with the rock-solid beat of the guitar, add the driving rhythm of the banjo and the compelling mandolin, complemented by the bass, then add a touch of fiddle and harmonica — and you have the makings of an exciting evening of foot-stomping, bluegrass music. Truman’s Ridge is known for its classic style, high energy, and tight bluegrass harmonies. They bring all the excitement from the early days of Bluegrass in their cover songs and original material influenced by the Midwestern string band and Chicago jazz and blues.
Bring a picnic dinner or dessert and a lawn chair and enjoy an intimate outdoor setting under the branches of ancient oaks with stunning views of the outstretched valley. In the case of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors. No glass containers are allowed. The site closes at 9 p.m.
Join for additional First Friday Concerts on July 5 with Potts & Pans Caribbean Jazz Combo; on Aug. 2 with Cassandra Acoustic; and on Sept. 9 with Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos.
Registration is not required. For more information, call Prairieview Education Center, (815) 479-5779 or visit www.MCCDistrict.org.
