Smart Farm Volunteer Coordinator Intern Needed.
Smart Farm of Barrington is in need of a Volunteer Coordinator Intern. Smart Farm is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose mission is to grow fresh produce for donation to local food pantries and to be an educational resource on educational gardening practices and healthy eating.

Job Description: The Volunteer Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements the volunteer program to serve the needs and opportunities of the Smart Farm. The Volunteer Coordinator provides leadership and direction to volunteer groups and works in conjunction with our Chief Gardener, as well as partners with other organizations and businesses in the surrounding area. The Volunteer Coordinator is supervised by the Chief Gardener.
Duties Include:
• Develop an annual volunteer plan
• Develop Volunteer training materials and orientation
• Develop and implement recruitment program to meet organization needs
• Maintain volunteer database including all contact information, projects, and hours contributed
• Organize all volunteer days and opportunities
• Coordinate volunteer needs for special events with Chief Gardener
• Partner with other organizations and businesses for volunteer needs
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Belong to a professional development group focused around volunteer management
• Attend community functions to recruit volunteers
Experience:
• Ability to motivate wide range of individuals including sensitivity to cultural diversity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Database Management Experience preferred
• Willingness to be flexible
