Harper falls in finale at Waubonsee
Waubonsee Community College eliminated the Harper College baseball team from postseason play with a 13-1 victory Sunday in the decisive game of their best-of-three NJCAA regional series in Sugar Grove.
The Chiefs advance to the NJCAA World Series in Tyler, Texas.
Cory Kay and Theo Yfantis doubled for Harper, which finished with 9 hits. Kay finished 3-for-4 and drove in the Hawks’ run, and Yfantis was the only other Harper player with 2 hits.
But there was no keeping up with a Waubonsee attack that produced 16 hits as coach Cliff Brown’s wrapped up the season with a 20-22 record.
