COD College Theater presents 'The Nerd' Oct. 18-28

College of DuPage College Theater presents Larry Shue's farce “The Nerd” Fridays, Oct. 19, to Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Building K Theater on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays.

A preview performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 p.m.

“The Nerd” follows Willum Cubbert, an architect with a promising career, friends and a girlfriend – all of which he owes to Rick Steadman, a soldier who saved his life in Vietnam who he's corresponded with but never met. When Rick arrives unannounced during a dinner party to call in Willum's offer of help at any time, the architect's perfect life is thrown into an uproar.

Milwaukee Repertory Theatre debuted “The Nerd” in 1981 with Shue playing Willum Cubbert. The play ran on Broadway for 441 performances from 1987 to 1988.

A pre-performance discussion is set for 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. A post-performance discussion will be held Friday, Oct. 26.

Tickets to “The Nerd” are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors, College of DuPage students and youth.
