Harper College Observatory to capture Venus crossing sun
The Harper College Observatory will be open from 4 p.m. to sunset Tuesday, June 5, to capture the rare sighting of Venus crossing the sun’s face.
Use of the college’s telescope will be free and open to the public as Venus moves in transit, appearing as a black dot across the sun. Harper officials said the once-in-a-lifetime event won’t happen again until 2117.
Due to construction on campus, the Observatory will move to the front of Avante Center, Building Z, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. For more information, visit harpercollege.edu.
