Music On Stage presents musical 'Avenue Q'
PALATINE, ILL. May 29, 2012 – Music On Stage, winner of the Illinois Theatre Association's Excellence in Theatre award, presents the Chicago premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical “AVENUE Q”!
Performances of the long-running Broadway hit that features engaging puppet characters, will be for three weekends from June 2-17 at Palatine's Cutting Hall.*
“AVENUE Q” is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. It is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named, Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie Monster (the internet 'sexpert'), Lucy the Slut (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his true purpose in life.
“AVENUE Q” was the winner of the Tony “triple crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.
Tickets are currently on sale through the Cutting Hall Box Office, 150 E. Wood Street in Palatine: (847) 202-5222, or online by visiting musiconstage.org.

"AVENUE Q” will be directed by Mark Mahallak, with musical direction by Ann Stewart. Producers are Becky Brown Lugovsky and Kathy Pazdioch. Set Designer Josh Weeks, Tech Director Tom Aufmann, Lighting Designer Steve Nickerson, Costume Coordinator Kathy Pazdioch, Stage Manager Tom Hermanson and Sound Designer Kurt Ottinger round out the staff.
"Adults love AVENUE Q, but, as the show's website http://www.musiconstage.org/avenueq/ explains, they seem a little, er, fuzzy on whether it's appropriate for kids,” explains Brown Lugovsky. “AVENUE Q might be great for teenagers because it's about real life. However, we feel it would not be appropriate for young children because AVENUE Q addresses issues like sex, drinking, and surfing the web for porn – all adult themes. The decision is ultimately yours, but we promise you this - if you DO bring your teenagers to AVENUE Q, they'll think you're really cool!”
