Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup
Natalie Starrenburg scored 2 goals and Kayla Balisteri had the other as Hampshire's girls soccer team scored a 3-0 win over Johnsburg in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division action Tuesday.
Haley Moscato was only called on to make 1 save for the Whip-Purs (7-5-3, 2-1-2) in the win.
Emily Zeller, Lexi Maze and Jori Anderson had Hampshire's assists.
“We have had a long layoff from games,” said Hampshire coach Pat O'Brien. “It was nice to get back on the field. The girls need to get back to playing a full 80 minutes.”
Huntley 5, Crystal Lake South 3: Abbie Nordeen and Jessy Helm each recorded 2 goals for the Red Raiders (8-4-4, 2-0) as they defeated the Gators in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action. Jessica Brock scored Huntley's other goal while the Gators received goals from Macky Taldone and Bianca Miceli. The Gators third goal was put in off the foot of a Red Raider player. Jessica Galason turned away 2 shots on goal in the victory while Tara O'Malley and Gianna DiSarno recorded 2 saves a piece for the Gators.
Streamwood 2, Elgin 0: The Sabres (8-9-1, 2-1) found the back of the net in each half and were able to hold the Maroons (0-12, 0-3) scoreless to earn an Upstate Eight River victory. Stephanie Brown scored off a free-kick, and then recorded an assist on a goal from Tawny Carrol. Bri Roppo turned away 1 shot on goal to preserve the shut out while Marisela Moscote recorded 15 saves in goal for the Maroons.
Harvest Christian 8, Romeoville Christian 0: Morgan Lockwood and Brittany Salazar each recorded hat tricks to lead the Lions (5-6-1) past Romeoville Christian. Erica Manusos and Brittnee Longnecker scored the Lions' final 2 goals. Tori Nelson preserved the shut out with 2 saves in goal.
Neuqua Valley 5, South Elgin 1: The Storm (8-6, 1-3) was unable to stop Neuqua Valley's high powered offense as they fell in Upstate Eight Valley action. Anna Tracy recorded the Storm's lone goal off an assist from Savanah Uveges. Jourdan Valkner recorded 14 saves in goal for the Storm.
Elgin Academy 2, North Shore Country Day 1: The Hilltoppers (5-6-2) carried a 2-0 lead into the second half and held on for the victory. Veronica Clements and Caitlin Pearson each scored for the Hilltoppers while Allison Wittmeyer turned away 9 shots on goal.
Bartlett 1, Lake Park 1: Nicki Noreen found the back of the net off a feed from Nicole Gobbo as the Hawks (8-4-2, 1-1) ended in a tie with Upstate Eight Valley foe Lake Park. Natalia Grodzki had a solid game in goal for the Hawks as she recorded 10 saves.
Cary-Grove 2, McHenry 0: Korey Kronforst and Kate Boyd each found the back of the net as they led the Trojans (7-4-1, 1-0) to an FVC Valley victory at home. Liz Koch and Allison Budreck each added 1 assist while Paige Lincicum stopped 2 shots on goal to earn the shut out.
Batavia 7, Larkin 0: Diana Hernandez turned away 16 shots on goal, but the Royals (1-13-1, 0-4) fell in Upstate Eight River action.
St. Edward 4, Aurora Central Catholic 0: Chelsea Gnan recorded 2 goals for the Green Wave (11-4, 4-2) as they earned a Suburban Christian Conference victory on road. Allison Kruk and Rena Ranallo also scored for the Wave while Gnan and Dykstra added assists. Paige Gannon preserved the shut out with 2 saves in goal.
Prairie Ridge 2, Jacobs 1 (PKs): The Golden Eagles (9-6-3, 0-1) carried a 1-1 tie into penalty kicks at the end of regulation but fell 4-2 on those free kicks in this FVC Valley match. Erin Flores scored the Eagles' lone goal in regulation off an assist from Amy Rigby. Alyssa Koeppler stopped 8 shots on goal.
