Baseball/Fox Valley roundup

Bartlett 4, Neuqua Valley 2: For the second time in three days Bartlett knocked off Neuqua Valley, the Daily Herald’s No. 1 ranked team, in Upstate Eight Valley play. Ryan Roszkowiak was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for the Hawks while Ryan Karrick also drove in a run. Robert Smith added 2 hits for Bartlett. Robert Sadowski tossed a 5-hitter for the Hawks, allowing no earned runs with 8 strikeouts and no walks.

Wheaton Academy 3, St. Edward 1: All the runs in this Suburban Christian Conference game were scored in the first inning. Jake Lefrenz (4-2) was the tough-luck loser for the Green Wave (13-12, 4-5), allowing just 5 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. St. Edward had only 2 hits.

Huntley 10, Johnsburg 2: Nick Corpolondo (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Bryce Only (2-for-4, 2B), Mark Skoniciczny (2 RBI), Jake Wagner (2-for-2, 2B) and Brandon Kirk (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) supplied the offense and Jake Perkins (2-0) fired a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Huntley (11-7, 4-2) in this Fox Valley crossover win.

South Elgin 10, East Aurora 0: Joe Crivolio (2-0) fired a 1-hitter with 2 strikeouts as South Elgin (12-2, 9-1) rolled in the Upstate Eight Valley. Jake Buhmann (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI), David Palmer (2-for-3, RBI), Chris Bingham (2-for-3, RBI) and Crivolio (2-for-2, 2 RBI) led the Storm offense.

Prairie Ridge 7, Hampshire 0: Daniel Keller suffered the loss for the Whip-Purs (7-8, 1-5) in the Fox Valley Fox.

Jacobs 7, Woodstock North 0: Ryan Ulmer had 2 hits and Connor Conzelman drove in 2 runs to lead Jacobs (10-6, 5-1) to an FVC win. Nick Ledinsky threw a 1-hiter for the Golden Eagles with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Kenny Finn added a double.

Cary-Grove 3, CL Central 2: Daniel Vilardo had 3 hits and Andrew Brierton added a double to lead the Trojans (12-6, 6-0) in the FVC. Zach Marzsal (2-0) picked up the win, allowing 3 hits.

Grayslake North 6, Dundee-Crown 3: Jake Romano was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 3 stolen bases and Zach Girardi had 2 hits for the Chargers (6-8, 3-3) in this FVC loss. Tyler Gross was the losing pitcher.

St. Charles North 6, Larkin 1: Losing pitcher Kyle Newquist drove in Larkin’s only run in this Upstate Eight River loss. The Royals (6-11, 3-6) were held to 4 hits.

St. Charles East 6, Elgin 5: After Elgin scored twice in the top of the eighth, the Saints came back with 3 in the bottom of the inning to win this UEC River game. Losing pitcher Ryan Sitter was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the Maroons (4-13, 0-10), while Andrew Higdon had a double and an RBI and Gage Teschner was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

College baseball

ECC splits: Elgin Community College split a nonconference doubleheader with Black Hawk, losing 3-0 and then coming back to win 5-4. In the Game 2 win, a bases-loaded walk to Justin Kalusa in the bottom of the seventh won it for the Spartans (16-13). Johnny Wehr (2-for-2), Ryan Richardson (2 RBI) and Matt Kaiser (3B) led the offense and Liam Pegg (2-2) picked up the win with 4 innings of relief. In Game 1, Alex Van Ness (1-1) took the loss for ECC despite allowing just 3 hits.
