Grayslake North swings away at Woodstock
Grayslake North’s softball team generated plenty of offense Tuesday.
Brooke Tracy went 3-for-5 with a triple and 2 RBI, and Kelsey Borders had a single, 2 walks an 5 RBI, as the Knights defeated host Woodstock 23-7.
Grayslake North got other 2-hit performances from Jordyn Bowen (2 RBI), Nikki Livengood (2 RBI) and Jessica Davis (2 RBI). Kaley Buchman had a double, and Kristina Gandy knocked in 3 runs.
Grant 5, Lakes 0: Rachel DePouw struck out nine and scattered just 3 hits, as the Bulldogs won the North Suburban Prairie game in Lake Villa.
Amber Smith had 3 hits for Grant (14-5, 4-1), and Caitlin Moran had a double.
Lake Zurich 13, Stevenson 1: Christina Sandstedt went 3-for-4 with a double and 6 RBI, and Ashley Pettinger hit a homer that coach Michaela Towne said traveled “250 feet,” as the Bears won the North Suburban Lake game in six innings.
Carlee Parsons also was 3-for-4 with a double for Lake Zurich (10-6, 5-1). She scored twice, stole a base and drove in a run. Mallory Parsons went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, a walk and a run. Maria Schroeder tripled for the Bears, and Shannon McPeek picked up the win.
Stevenson (3-13) scored its run in the sixth on Kat Trotter’s base hit that scored Cailin Rubenstein, who had tripled.
Zion-Benton 4, Mundelein 2: The visiting Zee-Bees got 2 home runs from winning pitcher Janika May in the North Suburban Lake game.
Hailey Morelli and Erin Kennelly doubled for Mundelein, and Andrea Funteas and Maddie Zazas scored runs
Crystal Lake Central 4, Grayslake Central 2: Sarah Kuligowski went 3-for-4 and scored a run for the host Rams in the Fox Valley Conference game.
Caitlyn Flary (double) and Cally Hayes added 2 hits apiece for Grayslake Central.
