Phillips, Elk Grove prevail at Prospect
Kyle Phillips delivered a game-high 8 goals to help Elk Grove pick up an 11-10 victory in Mid-Suburban East boys water polo on Tuesday at Prospect.
It was the first divisional win of the season for the Grens (4-3, 1-2).
Cam Mauer led the scoring effort for the Knights (3-4, 2-1) with 4 goals, and Liam Hansen and Nathanael Ginnodo had 2 each.
Hersey 13, Wheeling 4: George Vladimirov had 8 goals, and teammates Jack Carroll (3 goals) and Connor Reynolds (2) also joined the scoring effort as the host Huskies (4-1, 3-0) rolled in MSL East play.
Palatine 19, Barrington 4: Alex Brons led host Paltine with 4 goals and Christian Kalfas, Krystian Kalev and Wally Kleinfeldt had 3 apiece to help the Pirates (6-2, 3-0) in MSL West action.
Goalkeeper Peter Blackham had 10 blocks, 6 assists and 3 steals for Palatine.
Fremd 11, Schaumburg 6: The visiting Vikings outscored the Saxons 5-1 in the third quarter to break open a close game.
JP French led the way with 6 goals for Fremd (5-3, 2-1).
James Birriel and LJ Peterson had 3 goals apiece for Schaumburg (3-4, 1-2), and Saxons goalkeeper Marty Faleni made 16 saves.
Conant 6, Hoffman Estates 5: Kyle Bradberry and Brennen Nagorzanski both scored twice to help host Conant (4-1, 3-1) to victory in MSL West action.
Hoffman Estates (4-5, 1-3) got 2 goals from Adam Pasnicki and 1 apiece from Sang Han, Nick Jessee and Luke Iehl.
Goalkeeper Aly Ahmed made 12 saves for the Cougars.
