Harper finishes with victory at COD
The Harper men’s basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 61-56 victory over College of DuPage on Saturday in Glen Ellyn in North Central Community College Conference play.
In a game of back-and-forth scoring runs, Harper’s John Lorenz had two key plays. The Elk Grove product’s first-half 3-pointer capped a 10-2 Hawks run that forged a 48-48 tie with 5:26 left, and he converted a 3-point play with 1:40 left that put Harper up 58-50 and helped seal the outcome.
Shonnon Barfield led Harper in scoring with 17 points. Horace Grant had 12 and Jordan Mack 10.
The Hawks (10-20 overall, 4-10 N4C) are likely to earn the No. 6 seed for the upcoming Region IV tournament and figure to play either at Rock Valley or Milwaukee Area Technical College in a first-round game Wednesday.
After losing 14 of 16 games in one stretch, Harper has gone 4-4 in its last eight games.
College of DuPage fell to 10-20 overall and 1-12 in the N4C.
