Platinum Dance Academy comes to West Chicago
West Chicago, Illinois: February 9, 2012 – The recent opening of Platinum Dance Academy at 956 N. Neltnor Blvd., Suite 410 in West Chicago was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting which brought local officials, community well-wishers and Western DuPage Chamber members from West Chicago, Winfield and Warrenville to its state-of-the-art facility.
The new dance school, opened by a mother and daughter team who share a lifelong passion for dance, will provide an outlet for creative expression and bring even more energy to the Tower Station strip center in which it has located. Co-owner Janet Silvers explained her rationale in choosing the West Chicago location. “We were looking to fill a niche for dance enthusiasts of all ages, and with the great traffic and visibility of Route 59, it was a natural fit,” she said. Platinum Dance Academy has already begun filling classes with people who have noticed her signage and stopped in to tour her studio space and explore class offerings.
While classes include multiple forms of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pointe, Contemporary, Tumble, Modern, Improve, Musical Theater, Irish Step, Ballroom, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates and Fitness Dance, the goal at Platinum Dance Academy is the same - for each dancer to have the opportunity to experience different forms of dance while achieving grace, rhythm, self-esteem, coordination, poise, creativity, and confidence.
As explained by Silvers' daughter and co-owner Lynette Mitsch, “Platinum Dance Academy strives to teach the art of dance in a warm, positive, and structured environment. Each dancer will be evaluated along the way to ensure that she/he is dancing to their best ability and potential.” Mitsch brings a solid background which includes being the past Vice President and Choreographer of the Harper College Dance Team to the new venture.
The studio space boasts over 5,000 square feet with three large dance rooms, a dressing room, a homework area, and a comfortable lobby. “Two of our dance rooms have Maple Wood Sprung Dance Floors. The third dance room has a Marley floor. Both of these floors are designed to decrease injury to dancers,” said Mitsch.
Speaking for the City of West Chicago, Mayor Mike Kwasman praised the level and quality of investment in the studio and the community. “We are delighted to welcome Janet and Lynette to our business community. They have transformed the space at 956 N. Neltnor into an amazing dance facility with all the bells and whistles to provide a professional, high quality dance experience that will undoubtedly grow a strong following of dancers at every age and ability level. We wish them every success.”
