Marian students named to music honor society

Fifteen Marian students were recently inducted as new members into the Tri-M of Modern Music Masters; Music Honor Society.

The new members are: Yair Agosto of Woodstock; Pamela Atadero of Algonquin; Bethany Bucci of Woodstock; Lisa DiGirolamo of Barrington Hills; Kyle Dionela of McHenry; Anthony Fitzpatrick of Village of Lakewood; Ashley Graf of Woodstock; Lisbeth Hernandez of Crystal Lake; Jessica Jenkner of Algonquin; Austin Lee of Village of Lakewood; Patrick Manion of Algonquin; Caitlin McKenna of Marengo; Robert Morehead of Bull Valley; Kailyn Teeter of Lake in the Hills; and Brandon Wiener of Algonquin.

The ceremony was held in the school auditorium and included a brief biography of each new member's musical accomplishments. The evening concluded with refreshments and pictures.

Tri-M is an international music honor society for high school music students that motivates and recognizes musical achievement. Its mission is to increase student and school involvement with music and to strengthen and unify the school music program. To gain acceptance into the organization, students must have a 3.0 GPA, participate in the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest, and volunteer within their community. The new members' talents range from instrumental to vocal musicianship.

Placement test: Marian Central Catholic High School will administer its freshman placement test for the Class of 2016 incoming freshmen on Saturday, Jan. 7. No appointment is necessary. Students should report to the school at 1001 McHenry Ave., Woodstock by 8 a.m. Jan. 7 with the $10 test-processing fee, either in cash or check payable to Marian Central. Pencils will be supplied. Students cannot use calculators. Testing begins at 8:15 a.m. and takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete.This is not an entrance exam. the results from this test are used as a tool to properly place students in our academic program so that they have the greatest chance to be successful at Marian Central Catholic High School.For more information, visit marian.com.
