Webb paces Vernon Hills’ victory

Lauren Webb scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, as Vernon Hills’ girls basketball team remained undefeated in the North Suburban Prairie Division with a 59-23 win over host Grant Thursday night.

The 6-foot Webb, a sophomore and second-year varsity starter, sank a pair of 3-pointers. Alina Lehocky had a season-high 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Sydney Smith tallied 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

Vernon Hills (11-1, 5-0), which won its seventh game in a row, also got 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks from Meri Bennett-Swanson.

Grant (3-7, 2-2) received 9 points, including a 3, from Morgan Jahnke.

Libertyville 54, Lake Forest 19: Alex Haley’s 16 points paced the visiting Wildcats to the North Suburban Lake win.

Olivia Mayer added 12 points for Libertyville (10-3, 3-2), which won its fourth in a row. Kerry Risley and Haley Hoeksel had 8 points each.
