Memorial to honor the homeless Dec. 22

Join the annual Homeless Memorial Service to honor and remember the area's homeless who have died during the past year.

The event will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 at Journeys from PADS to HOPE, 1140 E. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine.

The service and candle lighting is held as reminder that homelessness is still a serious - and growing - problem in the Northwest suburbs and throughout the country.

If you would like to share a brief story or poem, they invite you to read it during the service.

Speakers will include staff and community members and volunteers. Homeless men and women and their families will participate in the readings. The media, elected officials, civic leaders, and community leaders are urged to attend. No registration is required.
