Dundee-Crown notches 5th straight win

Even without injured scoring star Carlin Faulkner (ankle), Dundee-Crown's girls basketball team found a way to win its fifth straight game Tuesday night, and stay undefeated in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division in the process.

Seniors Ali Sanders (22 points, 7 rebounds) and Diamond Williams (15 points, 6 rebounds) carried the load for the Chargers (5-4, 3-0), who notched a 45-43 FVC Valley win on the road against Prairie Ridge.

D-C held a 37-33 lead going into the fourth quarter of the nip-and-tuck game and then held on for the win.

South Elgin 54, East Aurora 26: The Storm (8-3, 2-2) geared up for a Thursday showdown against No. 1 Bartlett with a convincing Upstate Eight Valley win in Aurora. Becca Smith scored 17 points to lead South Elgin and Kennede Miller added 10.

Cary-Grove 49, Buffalo Grove 41 (OT): Olivia Jakubicek had 19 points and 7 rebounds and Cary-Grove won the overtime period 10-2 to defeat Buffalo Grove in nonconference action. Paige Lincicum added 12 points for the Trojans (7-3) and Katie Barker had 9 rebounds and 3 assists to go with 5 points.

Huntley 39, CL South 31: Haley Ream had 15 points and 9 rebounds and Sam Andrews added 13 points as Huntley (7-3, 3-0) held off CL South in the FVC Valley. Stephanie Melone, Rachel Rasmussen and Sara Mickow each had 9 points for the Gators (3-8, 0-2).

Harvest Christian 40, Berean Baptist 31: Sydney Doby had 20 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals and 3 assists to lead the Lions (8-1) to their eighth straight win. Jordie Wells had 12 points and 8 rebounds for Harvest, while Morgan Lockwood added 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Neuqua Valley 46, Hampshire 33: Hampshire fell behind Neuqua Valley (9-1) 31-13 at halftime and couldn't recover in the Oswego tournament. Grace Jakubowski led the Whip-Purs (4-7) with 10 points and Jen Dumoulin added 8.

St. Edward 58, Nazareth 33: Alex Lee had 15 points and Katherine Von Ahnen added 12 as St. Edward (8-3) rolled to an easy nonconference win at home. Maddie Kerr had 10 points for the Green Wave and Rena Ranallo added 8.

McHenry 44, Jacobs 40: Lauren Grady scored 19 points to lead Jacobs (1-10, 0-2), which couldn't hold onto a 34-29 lead after three quarters in this FVC Valley contest.

Westminster Christian 58, Holy Trinity 17: McKaila Hays had 13 points, while Whitney VandenBos (6 rebounds), Porsche Griggs (6 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Claire Spiewek (6 rebounds, 6 steals) each added 10 points to lead the Warriors (8-3) in nonconference play. Lindsey Donahue added 6 steals for Westminster.
