Joseph Jachna Exhibit at Gahlberg Gallery Oct. 13 to Nov. 26
An exhibition of works by Joseph Jachna spanning 50 years of the acclaimed Chicago photographer's career will be on display Thursday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Gahlberg Gallery, located in the lobby of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
This mini-retrospective features black and white and color images from the artist's collection.
“A goal of mine is to bring artists to the College that people haven't been exposed to,” said Barb Wiesen, gallery director and curator. “In Jachna's exhibit, you catch on to some thematic elements of his work. There are landscapes and water and you see how he evolved as an artist, getting a true feeling for his personality and seeing similar shapes and forms in his work.”
Jachna's is the second exhibit in the gallery's season, which began in August with a display of works by Volker Saul. With each new exhibit, Wiesen said her goal is to bring a variety of media to the gallery, exposing visitors to art in all its forms.
“You see a lot of installations, often with audio, here at the Gahlberg Gallery,” she said. “I try to do things that are of interest to me that I believe our patrons would enjoy. I think Joseph Jachna is one of Chicago's great photographers and I'm excited to introduce him to a new audience.”
The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and Saturdays, 6 to
8 p.m. Saturdays and during all Mainstage performances. The gallery also is open by appointment.
