Garrett, local leaders to discuss power outages

State Sen. Susan Garrett is asking municipal leaders in Lake and Cook counties to a meeting July 28 to discuss how to keep communities operating in widespread power outages. The meeting will be held 10 a.m.-noon in Lake Forest, co-hosted by state Rep. Elaine Nekritz and state Rep. Karen May. “During the last power outage, many residents called our office asking if we could have state or local police direct traffic on Route 41 and other roads because of inoperative traffic lights,” Garrett said in a news release. “We need to look at ways to communicate with our residents during these outages, and help manage the crises without relying on ComEd. By bringing communities together, we can address these concerns and find ways to collaborate during these types of emergency situations.” The meeting will be held in the Lake Forest Municipal Services Building, 800 N. Field Drive.
