Harper hosts bullying seminar Tuesday

Harper College is hosting a seminar Tuesday, July 19 for parents and children that looks at the long- and short-term effects of bullying and ways to help children deal with the situation.

The free seminar, entitled “Protect Your Child From Bullies,” will run from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. college’s gym, on the first floor of Building M on the main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Presenter Dee Dee Sutherland, co-author of the book “There’s Always a Bully,” is a mom to a bullied son. Having seen the problem unfold firsthand, she also knows the notable impact bullies can have on a child’s development — sometimes long-term.

The program will focus on recognizing and solving bullying problems; signed copies of Sutherland’s book also will be available for $5 (cash only). Limited seating is available. To RSVP, call (847) 925-6300 or visit www.harpercollege.edu/ce.
