Business Solutions Offers New Energy Analysis Certification Program

Business Solutions will offer a new Energy Analysis Certification program this summer that will prepare individuals to analyze the energy efficiency in homes.

The intensive five-day training program, with a follow-up day for course review and online exams, will be offered twice: on July 18 to 22 and 25 at 2525 Cabot Drive, Suite 201 in Lisle, and on Aug. 15 to 19 and 22 at College of DuPage's Naperville Regional Center, 1223 Rickert Drive. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a full-day field exam will be scheduled at a later date.

To learn more about the program, receptions will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Choose DuPage, 2525 Cabot Drive, Suite 303, Lisle, and at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at the Naperville Regional Center.

The program will be conducted by Midwest Home Performance, Inc., and directed by Michael Lotesto, recipient of the Building Performance Institute's national award for “Individual Professionalism.” Lotesto will be at each reception to speak with individuals interested in certification.

Classroom and field instruction covers basic building science concepts, combustion safety, and energy auditing and home performance contracting. Students will learn to diagnose and correct problems.

“Research indicates that the homes in our country are wasting more energy than we burn in our automobiles,” said Paul Kuchuris, chief learning officer of Business Solutions. “Our government is promoting home energy efficiency by providing homeowners subsidy funding to improve their homes.

In order to effectively respond to this situation, there is a significant need for certified individuals to evaluate home energy improvement needs.”

Individuals who complete the program and pass the dual BPI certification exams to become a Building Analyst and Envelope Professional will also qualify to have their companies become a BPI accredited contractor.

The program fee is $2,300. For qualified organizations, state training grant funds are available to offset 50 percent of the course registration fee. For more information, call (630) 942-2208 or e-mail bsolutions@cod.edu.
