Conant’s Warble shuts out Schaumburg
Conant left-hander Paul Warble didn’t need much support in Friday’s Mid-Suburban West baseball game with visiting Schaumburg.
Warble threw a complete-game 6-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Conant (5-17, 4-10) won 3-0. Art Sutter homered, Kyle Gizynski had a double and an RBI and Conor Donohue drove in a run.
Schaumburg (13-7, 6-6) is scheduled to finish a game with Buffalo Grove that was suspended at 5-5 after seven innings at 10 a.m. today. The Saxons will then face Palatine in a makeup game.Elk Grove 16, Wheeling 9: Blake Cavins went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and Jack Czeszewski hit a 2-run homer as Elk Grove (15-10, 8-5) stayed alive in the MSL East race behind Prospect (19-5, 10-2), which had its game with Buffalo Grove rained out. Mike Fox had 3 hits and 2 doubles and winning pitcher Luc Dimaso had 2 doubles.
Elk Grove hosts Prospect in a makeup game at 11 a.m. today. Theo Yfantis hit a grand slam for Wheeling (5-16, 2-11).
Barrington 3, Hoffman 2: Doug Beath had a 2-run single and Jake Broughton followed with a 2-run double as Barrington (6-23, 5-9) scored all of its runs with two outs in the first inning in the MSL West. Hoffman Estates (13-15, 6-8) also got both of its runs in the first.
Mike Weisshappel went 5 innings for the win and Max Redpath came in for the save.
Hersey 15, Meadows 4 (5 inn.): Sean Thompson and Trevor Haas had 3 hits and 4 RBI, Joe Perricone and Erik Stoltzner had 3 hits and Brian Tansor had 2 hits for Hersey (15-12, 8-6) in the MSL East. Joe Kropp had 2 hits for Rolling Meadows (12-12, 6-7).
Christian Liberty 6, Morgan Park Academy 5: David Cabrera went 3-for-4 and drove in 2 runs to break a 4-4 tie in the sixth for Christian Liberty (3-20). Dan Glad got the victory and Tyler Canoy picked up the save.
