Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Emma Stone scored twice, Alyssa Gazzano scored her first goal of the season and Ashley Barnes finished things off as Elgin Academy defeated Lisle 3-2 Tuesday in the opening round of the Class 1A Genoa-Kingston girls soccer regional.

The Hilltoppers (6-7-1) will take on St. Edward at 11 a.m. Saturday in the semifinals at Genoa-Kingston High School.

Mary Snell made 9 saves in goal for Elgin Academy, which overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Huntley 5, Dundee-Crown 0: The Red Raiders clinched the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title as Aimee Wronski scored twice and Emily Konior, Delaney Loprieno and Bre Burry added single goals. Kaytlyn Owens made 2 saves in goal for Huntley (15-1-1, 10-0) and Grace Flavin had 15 saves for the Chargers.

Jacobs 1, Grayslake North 0: Katie Sherman, Lizzy Travis, Monica Orjuela and Shannon Grady make penalty kicks to life the Golden Eagles (18-5, 8-1) to this Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Orjuela had 5 saves in goal for Jacobs.

Waubonsie Valley 2, Bartlett 0: Natalia Grodzki made 9 saves in goal for the Hawks (11-6-3, 2-4-0) in this Upstate Eight loss that snapped Bartlett’s 5-game winning streak.

St. Charles East 7, Larkin 1: Jaci Bridgers scored Larkin’s only goal in this Upstate Eight setback. Diana Hernandez had 14 saves in goal for the Royals (2-13-2, 1-4-1).

Batavia 3, Streamwood 0: Gabby Martin and Hannah McGlone each had 11 saves in goal but Streamwood couldn’t find the back of the net in this Upstate Eight loss.

Cary-Grove 3, Woodstock North 1: Korey Kronforst had the hat trick as the Trojans (12-7-1) notched an FVC crossover win. Krystal Felderman had 2 saves in goal for Cary-Grove.

CL South 2, Grayslake Central 0: Kali Loescher and Karli Schumacher scored goals and Elizabeth Quinn made 1 save for her 11th shutout of the season as the Gators (15-7-2) prevailed in this FVC crossover.
