Warren hands Mundelein another setback
Mundelein’s baseball team won its first 20 games this season.
Now the Mustangs are on a two-game losing streak.
Warren handed Mundelein its second loss in as many days Thursday, winning 10-7 after failing to protect a 5-0 lead.
Kevin Colburn homered, singled and drove in 5 runs for visiting Warren (14-8). Pat Kenney was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Ryan Kennedy and Anthony Garza each had 2 hits and an RBI for the Blue Devils.
Caleb Haley earned the win in relief, and Tanner Erbach pitched 3 innings for the save.
Mundelein (20-2) got home runs from Nik Gastfield and Torr Randau. Chris Maranto had a single and 2 RBI, Austin Ozog contributed a double, and DJ Lewis had a single and an RBI. Gastfield was 2-for-4.
Libertyville 8, Janesville Parker 2: At Miller Park in Milwaukee, AJ Schurr homered, freshman call-up Evan Skoug tripled and homered, and Nick Coutre doubled twice for the Wildcats.
Libertyville (13-8) also got doubles from Anthony Mack and Joey Eichmann. Kyle Cibrario pitched 2 innings for the win.
Vernon Hills 14, Grant 3: Chris Marras belted his second grand slam of the season, and Tyler Coppney also homered for the visiting Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie game.
Coppney tripled, as well, while Tyler Feece earned his first win in three weeks. A 10-run inning helped Vernon Hills (19-5) end the game after five frames.
Grayslake Central 5, Woodstock 3: Mark Ash fanned six batters in running his record to 5-0, as the host Rams improved to 15-8 with the Fox Valley Conference win.
Grayslake Central was held to 3 hits but took advantage of 7 walks and 3 errors. Kristian Meehan had a run-scoring double. Austin Leggett had an RBI single in a 4-run fourth.
Stevenson 5, Clemente 3: Michael Martin and Tyler Radtke both went 2-for-3 with a double, Ricky Kern tripled, and Scott Irving earned the win for the Patriots in the nonconference game.
Stevenson improved to 17-2.
Lake Forest 15, Lakes 9: AJ Metzger went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored for the Eagles in the North Suburban Conference crossover.
Lake Zurich 8, Carmel 6: Mike Schnurr hit a 2-run homer in the top of the first inning, and the Bears wiped out a 6-4 deficit by scoring 3 runs in the fourth to pick up their second win in as many days.
Lake Zurich (7-13) got 2 hits apiece from Zach Till (double, 2 RBI), Parker Asmann (triple, 2 RBI), Schnurr and Jeremy Reusch (RBI).
Eddie Szarkowicz earned the win.
Jimmy Ryan was 2-for-2 with a walk and 2 RBI for Carmel. Brian Brennan had a double.
