Player of week Fitzpatrick, Harper set for Region IV tourney

The Harper College softball team opens Region IV tournament action today at Joliet Junior College, meeting No. 1-ranked College of DuPage at 10 a.m.

The Hawks, who are seeded fourth in the four-team, double-elimination competition, will also play later in the day against either No. 2 Joliet or No. 3 Rock Valley.

The Chaparrals swept the Hawks in a doubleheader last week at Harper. The Hawks then defeated Madison Area Technical College in a three-game play-in series to earn their spot in Joliet.

Hawks freshman pitcher Caysee Fitzpatrick (St. Viator) was named NJCAA Division III player of the week. In 10 games last week.

Fitzpatrick hit .484 (15-for-31), with 3 extra-base hits including her first collegiate home run, 10 RBI, 8 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.
