Amanda Montbriand held visiting Neuqua Valley to 1 earned run on 4 hits, struck out five and walked four in a 7-1 Upstate Eight Conference victory Tuesday.
Lisa Matsie went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in 2 runs, and Nicole Beck doubled to lead Bartlett (11-10, 8-3).
“Montbriand pitched a great game against a very good hitting team, and Matsie hit very well to get us going,” Bartlett coach Jim Wolfsmith said.
South Elgin 11, St. Charles East 9: Trailing 8-5, South Elgin rallied for 6 runs in the top of the sixth to win an Upstate Eight home game against the Saints, who led 7-3 after an inning. Katelyn Stonecipher went 3-for-3 with a home run, scored 3 runs and drove in 2, Shannon Conway went 3-for-4 with a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs, Taylor Rees was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Brittany Koss was 2-for-3 and scored twice for the Storm. Sam Bolin (10-7-1) got the win for South Elgin (13-8).Geneva 9, Elgin 2: Hannah Perryman smacked a 2-run home run in the sixth inning, but the host Maroons managed just one other hit in an Upstate Eight Conference defeat. Perryman (7-6) took the loss after allowing 6 earned runs on 6 hits. She walked 6 and struck out 4 for Elgin (14-11, 3-8).
Batavia 15, Streamwood 1: Kaylie Jambor had a hit and drove in a run and Bri Bodajewicz stole 2 bases and scored twice, but two pitchers allowed 12 Batavia hits and 4 walks. Kellee Conquest took the loss for Streamwood (3-15, 2-8).
North Boone 10, Hampshire 6: Tiffany Bentley tripled and walked twice but the Whip-Purs managed just 5 hits and committed 7 errors in a Big Northern East home defeat. Jen Hurst (3-9) allowed 10 runs (4 earned) on 10 hits. She walked 1 and struck out 7 for Hampshire (4-15, 1-4).
Crystal Lake South 11, McHenry 9: Allie Buchat went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and Tori Stevenson went 2-for-4 and drove in 3 runs to lead a 15-hit attack by the Gators, who rallied for 7 runs in the top of the seventh inning to overtake the Warriors in a Fox Valley Conference game. Hannah Mahoney (5-6) was credited with the victory in the circle for CL South (11-7, 4-4).
Jacobs 9, Huntley 3: Jacobs pounded out 10 hits and made only 1 error in the field while Huntley finished with more errors (8) than hits (7) in this Fox Valley Conference game in Huntley. Marissa Lombardo (3-for-4, RBI), Alyssa Lach (2-for-5, double, RBI) and Jenna Teson (triple, run) led the offense and Lombardo earned the pitching victory for Jacobs (11-10, 5-4). Kelsey Hagen went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and 2 RBI, Brittany Koss doubled, walked twice and drove in a run and Tara Lycos went 2-for-4 for the Huntley (10-10, 5-3)
Cary-Grove 18, Dundee-Crown 2: the Trojans peppered D-C pitching with 13 hits and took advantage of 8 errors to win in five innings in a Fox Valley Conference game in Carpentersville. Amy Fitzgerald tripled and drove in 2 runs, Taylor Dunne homered, singled and drove in 2 runs and Sara Markelonis singled three times and drove in 2 runs for the Trojans. Lindsay Efflandt earned the win by holding D-C to 2 earned runs on 6 hits. She finished with 14 strikeouts and no walks for Cary-Grove (19-1, 10-0). D-C was led at the plate by Sarah Miles, who doubled and drove in both runs for the Chargers. Amanda Eissler took the loss for Dundee-Crown.
College softball
ECC season ends: The Elgin Community College softball team#146;s season came to a close after the Spartans dropped a pair of games to Illinois Valley Community College in the NJCAA Division II Region IV playoffs by scores of 8-3 and 13-12 in nine innings. Ashley Scheffler had 7 hits in 9 at-bats on the day, including 2 doubles, a home run and 6 RBI. Jennifer Jordan took the loss in both games for ECC (15-18).
