Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup
Nicole Gobbo and Nicki Noreen combined twice for second-half goals to lead the Bartlett girls soccer team to an Upstate Eight Conference victory in Aurora with a 2-1 decision over Metea Valley on Tuesday.
Noreen fed Gobbo for her first goal at 45:40, and the duo repeated the trick less than 10 minutes later to give the Hawks a 2-goal cushion.
Goalkeeper Natalia Grodzki made 12 saves for Bartlett, which raised its record to 8-5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Valley Division of the UEC.
“This was one of the best overall games we’ve played all season,” Bartlett coach Heather Thomas said.
St. Charles North 7, Streamwood 0: Brianna Roppo made 22 saves for Streamwood in an Upstate Eight Conference loss.St. Edward 3, Chicago Christian 2, OT: Monica Ramirez scored twice, assisted both times by Corey LePoudre, and Kellie Trittichio scored on an assist from Mallory Malone as the Green Wave won a Suburban Christian Conference match in Palos Heights. Paige Gannon made 5 saves for St. Edward (10-5-3, 5-3).
Huntley 5, Grayslake North 0: Aimee Wronski scored her 20th and 21st goals of the season and assisted on 3 others to lead the Red Raiders past the Knights in a Fox Valley Conference match in Huntley. Bre Burry scored the opening goal into an open net off a Wronski cross and Emily Konior added a goal and an assist. Kaytlyn Owens made 6 saves in goal for Huntley (13-1-1, 8-0).
Crystal Lake South 3, McHenry 1: Kali Loescher scored 2 goals and assisted on Emily Schoenfeldt#146;s marker to lead the Gators in Fox Valley Conference action in McHenry. Elizabeth Quinn made 11 saves for CL South (13-7-2, 8-2). McHenry slipped to 11-7, 6-3.
Jacobs 1, Prairie Ridge 0: Catie Sherman scored in the second half on an assist from Kelly Grady to lift the Golden Eagles to a Fox Valley Conference victory. Monica Orejula made 5 saves for Jacobs (16-5, 6-1).
Cary-Grove 4, Dundee-Crown 1: Korey Kronforst had a goal and an assist and Mary Schneider, Jae Jay Usab and Brittany Loehner each found the back of the net once in a Fox Valley Conference victory for the Trojans. Goalkeeper Krystal Felderman made 2 saves for Cary-Grove (10-7-1, 7-3). Jill Wiechmann scored the only goal for the Chargers when Felderman had trouble wrangling a corner kick. Ali Sanders made 7 saves in net for Dundee-Crown (6-13-1, 5-5).
Richmond-Burton 2, Hampshire 1: Morgan Beaver found the net for the Whi-Purs, assisted by Helena Van Eck, but it wasn#146;t enough offense to win this Big Northern East match. Alex Dumoulin made 5 saves and Haley Moscato made 4 saves for Hampshire (12-4-4).
Burlington Central 6, Harvard 0: Maddie Stoneman scored 3 goals and assisted on another to lead the Rockets to victory in the Big Norther East. Paola Ascencio made 10 saves to notch her first varsity shutout for Burlington Central (8-5-1, 6-0-1).
