Richie Gorski pitched a complete-game 3-hitter and he smacked one of Streamwood’s 4 home runs in a 9-1 victory over Larkin in an Upstate Eight Conference game in Streamwood on Tuesday.

Gorski held the Royals to 1 earned run, walked none and struck out 7. Catcher Tim Cohen hit a 3-run shot in the first inning to give the Sabres a 3-0 lead, Gorski added a 3-run blast in the fourth inning to make 7-0 and Nate Pearson and Nick Pryor each delivered solo homers to cap the scoring for Streamwood (17-2, 11-1).

Trevor Whitehead was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, and Victor Saldana went 2-for-3 for the Royals. Kyle Newquist (1-3) took the loss for Larkin (9-10, 3-8). He was touched for 7 earned runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings. He struck out 5.

Lake Park 7, South Elgin 4: South Elgin rallied for 4 runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the opening game of this Upstate Eight Conference series, but the Lancers scored 3 times against reliever Andrew Weedman in the bottom of the sixth to snap the Storm’s 7-game winning streak in Roselle. Jake Buhman doubled and Nate Garris homered and drove in 3 runs for South Elgin (12-4-1, 7-4-1). Jake Pygman earned the win in relief for Lake Park (11-9, 7-6).

Geneva 14, Elgin 4: Jake Meyer doubled and David Penaloza (1-3) took the loss for Elgin (2-15-1, 2-12-1) in this five-inning, Upstate Eight Conference home game.

Neuqua Valley 5, Jacobs 2: Nate Andersen (2-2) took the loss in the is nonconference game in Naperville that was called due to darkness in the bottom of the sixth inning. Andersen struck out 6 and allowed just 1 earned run for Jacobs (7-12).

Dundee-Crown 12, Crystal Lake South 9: Scott Nowicke went 3-for-5 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI, Jake Romano tripled, drove in a run and scored twice, Dylan Kissack went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run, and Jimmy Griffin went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair in a Fox Valley Conference win for Dundee-Crown (14-10, 11-5). Chris Gorman (2-2) earned the win in relief of Mike Hazelhurst by holding the Gators to 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. The Gators (14-5, 10-4) rallied for 3 runs in each the fourth and sixth innings but couldn’t overcome an 11-3 deficit after 3½ innings to extend their 7-game winning streak.

Cary-Grove 10, Prairie Ridge 0: Ohio-State bound senior Matt Panek held the Wolves to 1 hit in a 5-inning, Fox Valley Conference victory for Cary-Grove. Panek (4-0) walked three and struck out six and went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a run driven in. Alex Wians and Nick Richter each drove in runs for Cary-Grove (15-7, 12-4).

Richmond-Burton 5, Burlington Central 2: Richmond-Burton (16-4, 4-1) claimed sole possession of first place in the Big Northern East by answering Burlington Central’s 2-runs in the fifth with 3 of its own to defeat pitcher Nick Hahn. Hahn (2-3) allowed 5 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits. He struck out 5 without a walk for Central (12-5, 5-2). Ray Wojciechowski earned the win by holding the Rockets to 5 hits.

North Boone 4, Hampshire 2: Tyler Crater (3-2) held the Vikings to 3 hits in 6 innings, but a walk and 4 hit batsmen allowed North Boone to score 4 earned runs in a Big Northern East game in Poplar Grove. Crater’s double was one of only 3 hits for Hampshire (10-7, 3-2).

College baseball

Judson wins tournament opener: The Judson University baseball team defeated Olivet Nazarene 7-2 in an opening-round game of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in Elgin. Nick Krisman threw a complete-game 6-hitter, allowing just 1 earned run. He struck out 10 and walked 1. Johnny Amann (2-for-4, 2 runs), T.J. Swank (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Matt McHenry (2 RBI) paced the offense for Judson (39-15).
