Dundee-Crown 3, Grayslake Central 2: Sophomore Dylan Kissack drove in the go-ahead run in a 2-run fifth inning, and starting pitcher Mike Lodi earned the victory as the Chargers won for the third time in four outings. Lodi (3-2) held the Rams to 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits two days after they blitzed Charger pitching in a 22-2 victory. Lodi struck out 5 and walked 2 in 6 innings. Erik Brewer earned his first save by recording the final two outs in the seventh. Nick Spagnola hit a solo home run and Jake Romano doubled, scored and drove in a run for Dundee-Crown (13-10, 10-5).
Jacobs 12, Lake Zurich 3: Greg Mixon held the Bears without an earned run on 3 hits in 6 innings, and the Golden Eagles scored 12 runs on 8 hits, assisted by 7 Lake Zurich errors. Mark Self doubled and scored twice and Dillon O’Toole went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored in a nonconference road win for Jacobs (7-11, 5-7).
Huntley 15, Grayslake North 0: Colin Lyman went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI and Carlos Alvarez scored twice and drove in 2 runs to keep the Red Raiders atop the standings on the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference with this five-inning home victory. Bryan Doherty (4-0) allowed only 3 hits in 4 innings. He struck out 7 without issuing a walk for Huntley (17-2, 12-1)
Crystal Lake South 7, Johnsburg 1: The Gators scored 4 runs in the fifth inning to break open a 3-1 game, and Jordan Van Dyck (1-0) notched the victory on the mound by limiting the Skyhawks to 1 earned run on 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in 5 innings of work. Dom Winiecki went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, Max Meitzler was 2-for-2 with a solo home run and Jeremy DeJesus was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored for the streaking Gators (14-4, 10-3), who won their seventh straight.
Cary-Grove 12, Crystal Lake Central 2: Michael Vilardo hit his 10th and 11th home runs of the season and drove in 3 runs, and Alex Posey hit a pair of home runs with 4 RBI to lead the Trojans (14-7, 11-4) to a five-inning rout in the Fox Valley Conference. Senior pitcher Kevin Weber improved to 3-0 by holding the Tigers to 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 5 innings. He struck out 6 without a walk.
Westminster Christian 5-4, IMSA 3-3: The Warriors swept a pair of 5-inning games in Northeast Athletic Conference action in Aurora. Westminster Christian (20-5, 10-0) won 5-3 behind winning pitcher Dylan Scully, who pitched 1 inning of relief for the victory. Ryan Perez went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI and Ben Stevenson doubled and drove in a run. The Warriors finished the sweep with a 4-3 win after they rallied for 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning to make a winner of starting pitcher Zach Barfield. Perez struck out 2 Titans in an inning of work to earn the save.
Burlington Central 14, North Boone 3: Joey Lange improved to 4-0 by holding the Vikings to 1 earned run on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in 4 innings pitched. Ray Hunniuctt went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, Tanner Scott was 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI and Luke Fleming doubled, tripled and drove in a pair in Big Northern East play for Burlington Central (12-4, 5-1).
St. Edward 4, Guerin 1: Luke Duffy (2-4) pitched a complete-game 3-hitter in Elgin, allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 10 and walking 3 to lead the Green Wave to a victory in the Suburban Christian Gold for only the second time this season. Jake Koehring went 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Duffy also doubled for St. Edward (4-18, 2-10).
College baseball
Elgin Community College 12, Harper College 0: ECC scored 4 runs in the first inning and amassed 13 hits to win on the road. Zach Liebman (3-2) did not allow a run and held Harper to 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in 6 innings. Craig Lipp doubled and homered and Sam Weinberg doubled and drove in 3 runs for ECC (33-11, 9-5).
