Softball/Fox Valley roundup
The South Elgin softball team pounded out 23 hits Tuesday in a 17-7 win over East Aurora in Upstate Eight Conference action at South Elgin.
Sam Bolin was 3-for-4 with a home run, 2 doubles and 6 RBI, Shannon Conway was 4-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI and Brittany Rogalla was 4-for-5 with a double to lead the Storm (12-6, 5-2). Brittany Koss (3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI), Katelyn Stonecipher (3-for-3, 3 runs), Lexi Hansen (2-for-3), and winning pitcher Taylor Rees (3-for-4, 2B, 3B) also contributed to South Elgin’s offense.
Huntley 13, Dundee-Crown 7: Angela Tribuzio was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI as Huntley (6-9, 3-2) rolled to a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Kelsey Hagan (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and Brittany Koss (RBI) also contributed for the Red Raiders. Taylor Larson (5-6) struck out five and walked one to earn the win. Amanda Eissler (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI), Tiffany Rawlinson (3-for-4, 2 doubles, RBI) and Melany Love (2-for-4, 3B, RBI) led Dundee-Crown (2-9, 0-4). Love was also the losing pitcher.
St. Charles East 17, Elgin 7: RaeAnne Payleitner hit 3 home runs to lead the Saints to an Upstate Eight win over Elgin (13-8, 2-5). Anna Eckholm (2-for-4, 2 doubles), Kelly Bremer (2B), Jennah Perryman (2-for-3, 2 doubles) and Monica Stockman (2-for-3, 2B, 1st career HR) led Elgin. Jennifer Fulton suffered the loss in the circle for the Maroons.
Geneva 2, Larkin 0: Geneva’s Kelly McCaffrey 2-hit Larkin in this Upstate Eight game. Melissa Barber homered for the Vikings. Lexi Smithberg allowed just 6 hits in suffering the loss for the Royals (7-13, 1-6).
Elgin-Larkin at Judson: Elgin and Larkin will meet in a 7 p.m. game tonight under the lights at Judson University. It’s Little League Night and the Maroons and Royals invite all Elgin area Little League softball players to attend the game. There is no admission charge.
