Northwest roundup / Palatine tops Barrington

Palatine claimed a tough 9-6 Mid-Suburban West badminton test with Barrington on Tuesday.

The Pirates’ No. 1 doubles team of Maggie Van Grondelle and Tomoyo Tsurumi won their match and also won their singles matches. Jenni Tucker won at No. 7 singles and combined with Carly Joseph for a No. 2 doubles victory.

Barrington’s Emily Sullivan and Courtney Harrison won at No. 3 doubles and also picked up singles victories.

Hoffman Estates d. Conant: Amruta Bhatt and Maiko Matsubara won at No. 1 doubles and also earned singles wins as Hoffman Estates beat MSL West rival Conant 12-3. Avni Bavishi and Meran Liu also won at No. 2 doubles.

Alex Bahadri won at No. 3 singles for Conant.

Hersey d. Wheeling: Jen Hall won at No. 1 singles and Olympia Pawlowski and Jean Ziegenhorn won at No. 2 doubles for Hersey in the 12-3 MSL East victory. Pawlowski and Ziegenhorn also won their singles matches.

Wheeling’s Jessica Pena won at No. 2 singles and combined to win at No. 1 doubles with Hannah Park.

Buffalo Grove d. Rolling Meadows: Michelle Byjos and Nell Boyd won at No. 1 doubles and also won their singles matches to lead BG to a clean 15-0 MSL East sweep of Rolling Meadows. Eleanore Chan and Kelsey Henrikson also won at No. 4 doubles and Nos. 3 and 4 singles respectively.
