Gage Teschner had 3 hits and drove in a pair of runs, Adrian Martinez had 2 hits and 3 RBI, Javier Cardenas had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Drew Bloomquist doubled to lead the offensive attack.
David Penaloza (1-2) held the Tomcats to 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. He struck out 7 and walked 4 for Elgin (2-5-1, 2-2-1).
Waubonsie Valley 9, Larkin 2: The Royals led 2-1 after an inning, but the Warriors scored twice in the second inning to take the lead and kept tacking on for an Upstate Eight Conference win in Elgin. Mike Murphy held the Royals to 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 6 innings and struck out 8. Drew Shore (1-1) took the loss after allowing 7 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits in 4 innings for Larkin (6-5, 1-3).
Burlington Central 13, Marengo 3: The Rockets blasted the Indians with 14 hits, 10 of the extra-base variety, in the Big Northern East opener in Marengo. Junior Ray Hunnicutt went 2-for-4 with 2 solo home runs, junior Tanner Scott went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and 4 RBI, Sam Klein hit 3 doubles and drove in a run and Nick Hahn had 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Joey Lange (3-0) held Marengo to 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 5 innings. He struck out 3 and walked 1 for Burlington Central (8-3, 1-0).
Dundee-Crown 11, Johnsburg 1: The Chargers took advantage of 9 errors by the Skyhawks to win in a Fox Valley Conference crossover in Carpentersville. It was the fourth straight win for Dundee-Crown (7-6, 4-1), which was paced offensively by Scott Nowicke (2 doubles, 4 RBI) and Jimmy Griffin (1-for-2, double, RBI). Erik Brewer (1-0) held Johnsburg to 0 earned runs on 2 hits in 6 innings without a walk. He struck out 2.
Crystal Lake South 7, Cary-Grove 6: The Gators overcame a 4-0 deficit with 5 runs in the fourth inning, part of a 12-hit attack. Nick Martin and Jeremy DeJesus each drove in 2 runs and Dom Winiecki tripled and drove in a run for the Gators. Jordan Van Dyck earned the win in relief

Richmond-Burton 15, Hampshire 7: Zack Skog, Luke Wians, Nick Holze and Tyler Crater had 2 hits apiece and Holze drove in 2 runs, but the Rockets overcame a 6-5 deficit with a 7-run fifth inning to win the Big Northern East opener in Richmond. Luke Wians (1-3) took the loss for Hampshire (5-5, 0-1).
Westminster Christian 14, Alden-Hebron 0: The Warriors notched 13 hits, led by Kevin Elder (3-for-4, double, 2 RBI), Ryan Perez (2-for-3, double, 2 RBI) and Frank Oliver (1-for-3, 2 RBI). Andrew Mason earned the win on the hill. He held the Giants scoreless on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings pitched.
Immaculate Conception 17, St. Edward 4: St. Edward lost in decisive fashion in a Suburban Christian Conference game in Elmhurst. The Knights collected 10 hits. Jake Koehring took the loss for the Green Wave.
College baseball
Judson sweeps: Nate Rohl hit 3 home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross to remain in the title hunt in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Rohl homered twice in a 9-2 victory in Game 1. Josh Raymond contributed 3 RBI and Kevin Carmody earned the victory on the mound.
The Eagles (28-11, 12-5) won the nightcap 10-5. Rohl homered, Brian Brauer hit 3 doubles and drove in 3 runs and Jeremy Winnan pitched Judson to victory.
Elgin Community College sweeps: The Spartans swept a pair of Skyway Conference games from Oakton, 4-2 and 11-2. Andy Grunewald (5-) earned the Game 1 victory after allowing 5 hits in 5 innings. Brett Loeding earned his sixth save. Steve Cocat hit 2 doubles and Thomas Wilson stole 2 bases.
ECC (18-6, 4-4) pulled even in conference play when Craig Lipp (3-0) pitched the Spartans to victory in Game 1. Lip held Oakton to 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts in 6 innings. Justin Kalusa tripled and stole 2 bases, Ryan Burke doubled and Julian Ramirez homered for ECC.
