WW South edges Glenbard East

Wheaton Warrenville South won a tight DuPage Valley Conference contest Tuesday, a 1-0 victory over Glenbard East in Lombard.

Kate Fowee finally solved Rams goalkeeper Veronica Fairbairn with a second-half goal, all the support WW South goalie Kelsey Graham needed to record the shutout. Fairbairn made 11 saves in the loss.

Naperville Central 2, West Aurora 0:

Naperville Central (4-1-1) outshot West Aurora 32-4 in the DuPage Valley Conference game in Aurora. After a scoreless first half Katherine Short dribbled past two defenders and ripped a 25-yard shot into the corner of the net. Veronica Ellis added an insurance goal from assists by Nicole Ramberg and Sabrina Cisneros. Redhawks junior keeper Jill Smolinski, who made a huge save with a 1-0 lead, earned her first varsity shutout.

Glenbard South 7, Illiana Christian 0:

Paige Bihun scored 3 goals and assisted on another to lead the Raiders to the easy Metro Suburban Conference win in Lansing. Glenbard South (2-3-1, 2-0) added 2 goals by Tara Zagone with Hailey Hawkins and Olivia Bouchard scoring 1 apiece. Dana Jourdan required 1 save for the shutout.
