Freshman Jennah Perryman allowed just 3 hits and No. 20 Elgin overcame a 3-0 first-inning deficit to beat Buffalo Grove 7-4 Monday in nonconference softball action.
Anna Eckholm had a double for the Maroons (6-1) and Alex Bell scored 2 runs.
Cary-Grove 13, Johnsburg 3: No. 2 Cary-Grove (4-0) got a 2-hitter and 9 strikeouts from Lindsay Efflandt in this Fox Valley crossover win. Lisa Semro (3-for-4, 2B, RBI), Efflandt (3-for-3, HR, 4 RBI) and Sara Markelonis (2B, 2 RBI) led the Trojans’ offense.
Jacobs 4, CL Central 3: Jacobs (3-3) scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh for the FVC crossover win. Marissa Lombardo struck out three and allowed only 2 earned runs in her first outing of the season. She also had 2 hits.
Dundee-Crown 14, Woodstock 1: Melany Love struck out nine and allowed just 3 hits in her first pitching outing of the season as the Chargers (2-2) rolled in FVC crossover play. Love also had 3 hits, including a double, and 3 RBI.
Westminster Christian 6, Aurora Christian 5: Katie Moeller struck out eight and allowed only 4 hits as the Warriors (1-1) won the first time this season on Porsche Griggs’ walk off home run.
Schaumburg 8, Larkin 2: Alex Buhrow was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Larkin (5-5) in this nonconference loss. Lexi Smithberg was the losing pitcher for the Royals and Kiernan Schock added a double.
CL South 6, Grayslake North 3: Hannah Mahoney (2-1) struck out nine and allowed 4 hits and had a double as the Gators (5-1) won in FVC crossover action. Tori Stevenson added a double and Sam Golf had a triple and 2 RBI.
Burlington Central 17, Byron 2: Emily Bell hit a 3-run home run, Haley Albamonte was 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, Melanie Gajewski had a double, winning pitcher Rebecca Roscher was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and Molly Harrison had 3 hits to lead the Rockets (3-4) to a Big Northern crossover win.
