Hoffman Estates states case in victory
Hoffman Estates’ four returning state qualifiers combined for half of the wins in a 12-3 Mid-Suburban League badminton crossover victory at Rolling Meadows.
Amruta Bhatt and Maiko Matsubara won 21-13, 21-11 at No. 1 doubles and they also won their singles matches. Avni Bavishi and Meran Liu won 21-12, 21-16 at No. 2 doubles and also earned singles victories.
Krupa Patel won at No. 6 singles for Meadows and teamed with Anjelica Nandyala for a No. 3 doubles win.
Hersey 11, Conant 4: Jen Hall and Stephanie Wong won at No. 1 doubles and earned two-set singles wins for Hersey in the MSL crossover. Alex Bahadri won at No. 4 singles and combined with Danielle Park for a three-set win at No. 2 doubles for Conant.
Palatine 13, Wheeling 2: The standout Palatine doubles team of Maggie Van Grondelle and Tomoyo Tsurumi showed it can get the job done in singles, too, with two-set victories. Adelma Ragudo and Claudia Ochoa had a three-set win at No. 3 doubles and also got singles wins.
Wheeling’s Emily Tran and Rachel Godlewski won at No. 2 doubles.
Barrington 15, Elk Grove 0: Kathy Ho and Hannah Gross won at No. 1 doubles 21-11, 19-21, 21-3 as Barrington rolled in the MSL crossover.
BG 14, Schaumburg 1: Michelle Byjos and Nell Boyd won at No. 1 doubles and won their singles matches for Buffalo Grove in the MSL crossover. Jenny Krewer and Alanna Zawlocki also won at No. 2 doubles and in singles.
Schaumburg got its win at No. 3 singles from Roshni Patel in three sets.
Fremd 12, Prospect 3: Freshman Angela Wu and Annie Huang rolled to a No. 1 doubles win and picked up singles wins for Fremd in the MSL crossover. Momoka Shimizu got a tough three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Kiley Walsh won at No. 9 singles and teamed with Kara Kendall at No. 5 doubles for a win for Prospect.
