Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare has 'Go Green' promotion

The Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center (www.CrownePlazaOhare.com) is offering a “Go Green” promotion for meeting planners, with a variety of sustainable options and rebates of up to 3 percent off all events booked by Dec. 31, 2011.

“Green event policies are an emerging trend,” explained Jill Hare, director of sales and marketing for the hotel. “More than 90 percent of the RFPs we receive ask about our green initiatives, and require some type of compliance with environmental protection policies. Our ‘Go Green' promotion helps meeting planners achieve their organizations' green goals, while saving some money in the process.”

In addition to the 3 percent rebate off the master bill, meeting planners who “Go Green” at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare can choose two of the following:

• Water cooler stations (no plastic bottles used)

• Recycle bins for all meeting rooms

• Recycled paper products and soy pens in meeting rooms

• “Green Selections” food and beverage menu

• “Green Theme” daily menu share, which maximizes purchases from local food and beverage purveyors

With its prime location just 1.5 miles from O'Hare International Airport, across from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, and adjacent to the Rosemont Theater, the hotel – rated four stars by both Travelocity and Orbitz -- regularly hosts training sessions, conferences and trade shows in many industries, as well as religious gatherings, self-help seminars, dance competitions and weddings.

Conference and meeting facilities at the property include two ballrooms (23,500 square feet and 2,200 square feet), 22 meeting rooms (280 to 7,128 square feet), and an 89-person tiered amphitheater with stage and production room. Pre-function meeting space (4,000 square feet), two 16-seat boardrooms, and an eight-seat conference room also are on-site.

In 2010, the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare completed a three-year, multi-million dollar renovation that emphasized environmental sustainability. Virtually all of the metal from the demolition and construction was recycled. The hotel incorporated low-E glass windows, CFL light bulbs, energy reducing hear/air systems, and high efficiency plumbing fixtures.

Ongoing sustainable efforts include a property-wide recycling program, avoidance of Styrofoam products, linen reuse program, emphasis on low-environmental impact cleaning agents, energy-efficient guest transportation, and a focus on local foods and regional vendors. The hotel is proud to have eliminated the manufacture and disposal of more than 29,000 plastic bottles annually by providing guests unlimited filtered and chilled water at vending rooms on each floor.

Affiliated with ecologically friendly hotelier InterContinental Hotels Group, the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare has been recognized for raising its environmental profile to be among the leaders in the industry.

“From the foundation up, we have taken the extra steps to ensure that we protect and sustain our surroundings. It's amazing to see our commitment in action,” said Hare.
