Bartlett blitzes Montini
The Bartlett girls soccer team dictated the pace of play throughout a clear-cut 8-1 victory over Montini in Lombard Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks got on the board just over two minutes into the nonconference match when Nicole Gobbo found the back of the net, assisted by Nicki Noreen, who later in the first half upped Bartlett’s lead to 4-0 after notching back-to-back goals on assists from Amanda Zindel.
“It was the first game that we came out strong from the first whistle, and as a result we got on the board first,” Hawks coach Heather Thomas said. “Overall, it was a good win. Now, we have to step up for Batavia on Tuesday and, hopefully, have the same result.”
Gobbo scored twice more in the second half for a hat trick. Brittney Van Ness had a goal and 2 assists and Kendra Videckis had a goal and an assist for Bartlett (2-1).
Conant 9, Dundee-Crown 1: Brittany Gantz scored a first-half goal, assisted by Carolyn Schneider, but the Chargers allowed 4 goals before the intermission and 5 more in the second half of this nonconference loss in Hoffman Estates. Aly Sanders made 10 saves in net for Dundee-Crown (0-1).Deerfield 5, Larkin 0: The Royals allowed 4 first-half goals in a nonconference road loss. Diana Hernandez made 13 saves for Larkin (0-2-1).
Sycamore 7, Burlington Central 0: Central goalkeeper Caitlin Solberg made 3 saves and Sarah Nelson made 8 saves in relief, but the Rockets were unable to contain Sycamore#146;s relentless attack in a nonconference loss in Burlington.
Willows Academy 7, Elgin Academy 0: Mary Elizabeth Snell made 9 saves, but the Hilltoppers (0-3) couldn#146;t halt Willows#146; attack in a nonconference loss in Elgin.
