Starnes nets national title for Harper
P.J. Starnes earned a national championship for Harper College of Saturday night in Spokane, Wash.
At 157 pounds, Starnes decisioned Jeremy Bommarito of tournament host North Idaho 4-2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association championships.
Adam Chalfant had Harper’s only third-place finish. He earned a 7-2 decision over Matt Wyss of Iowa Lakes at 285 pounds.
Khari Washington finish fourth at 174 pounds, Arber Bebo was fifth at 184,
In the team race, the defending national champions finished tied for sixth with Lincoln with 84 points, 1.5 points behind fifth-place finisher Labette.
The team championship went to Clackamas, Ore., with 109, followed by North Idaho (98.5), Rend Lake (94) and Iowa Central (93).
