Harper in third after Day 1

The fifth-ranked Harper College wrestling team opened competition at the NJCAA wrestling championships in Spokane, Wash., Friday night.

Through the first day of action, three Harper wrestlers remain in championship contention: 174 pounder Khari Washington, 285-pounder Adam Chalfant and 184-pounder Arber Bebo (Addison Trail).

The Hawks are tied with Iowa Central Community College for third place at 57.5 points. Harper is 9 points behind team leader Clackamas and 5.5 points behind meet host Northern Idaho.
