State senator to speak at DAR ceremony Feb. 6
Kishwaukee Trail Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its annual Honors Awards and Scholarship Ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 in the community room at Home State Bank, 611 S. Main St. in Crystal Lake. This is the larger building behind the bank's one-story facility. Use the east entrance and take the elevator to the lower level's community room.
State Sen. Pamela Althoff (32nd District) will speak on "Good Citizenship." Honored will be McHenry County's 17 high school seniors who were chosen as their school's 2010-2011 DAR Good Citizen.
They are: Hayli Lagerhausen, Alden-Hebron Community High School; Chelsea Marie Derer, Cary-Grove High School; Colleen Gleason, Crystal Lake Central High School; Tiana Tole, Crystal Lake South High School; Tyler Martin Wilke, Faith Lutheran High School; Ingrid Rendon, Harvard High School; Seth R. Boster, Huntley High School; Megan Fitzpatrick, Harry D. Jacobs High School; Nell Sawa Langner, Johnsburg High School; Erika Smith, Marengo Community High School; Stephanie Lynn Carran, Marian Central Catholic High School; Karly Pociask, McHenry High School – East Campus; Elizabeth Cichowski, McHenry High School – West Campus; Matthew T. Clark, Prairie Ridge High School; Sarah Anne McClanahan, Richmond-Burton Community High School; Phillip Johann Meyer, Woodstock High School; and Alexandra J. Barlas, Woodstock North High School
Students, their families and their guests are invited to attend.
Scholarship funding is provided, in part, through DAR fund raising; but thanks is due one very generous McHenry County family that has provided the majority of the scholarship dollars for a number of years.
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.
