Scouting the weekend in Fox Valley boys basketball

Here’s a look at the boys basketball matchups involving Fox Valley teams this weekend.

Today’s games

Grayslake Central (1-4) at Jacobs (2-1), 7 p.m.: The Golden Eagles play their home opener 13 days after their last contest at the Quincy Thanksgiving Tournament.

Johnsburg (1-5) at Huntley (4-0), 7 p.m.: The Red Raiders look to continue their hot start against the struggling Skyhawks, who were held to 21 points by Dundee-Crown Tuesday.

Prairie Ridge (1-4) at Dundee-Crown (3-1), 7:15 p.m.: Dundee-Crown’s only loss was against undefeated Huntley. The Wolves have lost two games this season by 30 or more points and were beaten by 20 points by CL South last Saturday.

Woodstock North (2-5) at Cary-Grove (2-4), 7 p.m.: The Trojans aim to end a 3-game losing streak in a Fox Valley Conference crossover.

Woodstock (1-4) at Crystal Lake South (3-2), 7 p.m.: The Gators have won three straight by holding their opponents to an average of 41 points.

Harvard (1-2) at Burlington Central (2-3), 7 p.m.: The Rockets shoot for their second straight victory in the Big Northern East opener for both teams.

Lake Park (4-3, 0-1) at Bartlett (3-3, 0-1), 7:30 p.m.: Bartlett aims for its first victory in the Valley Division of the UEC against the Lancers, who have lost to Metea Valley and Glenbard North since winning the Fenton Thanksgiving Tournament.

St. Charles East (1-5, 1-1) at Streamwood (3-4, 0-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Sabres were held to 29 points in a loss to Geneva on Tuesday. The Saints earned their first win against previously undefeated Elgin last Saturday.

Larkin (2-4, 0-1) at Batavia (3-3, 1-0), 7:30 p.m.: The young Royals have dropped four straight entering this UEC River matchup. Batavia is coming off wins at St. Charles East and at Quincy.

Geneva (4-2, 2-0) at Elgin (4-1, 0-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Maroons vie for their first UEC River victory after getting a rude awakening last Saturday in their first loss at St. Charles East. The Vikings have limited teams to 41.3 points per game and held their last two opponents to 29 points or less.

Morgan Park Academy at Elgin Academy (1-5), 5 p.m.: The Hilltoppers seek their first win in the Independent School League.

Saturday’s games

Genoa-Kingston (5-2) at Westminster Christian (5-1), 7 p.m.: The Class 1A Warriors host one of the toughest nonconference foes on their schedule.

St. Charles North (3-3) at South Elgin (3-4), 6 p.m.: The North Stars look to win their fourth straight in this Upstate Eight Conference crossover game. The Storm snapped a 3-game losing streak with a win at Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday.

Winnebago (2-1) at Burlington Central, 7 p.m.: Winnebago’s 61-game regular-season win streak ended with a 29-point defeat against visiting Hampshire on Tuesday.

Elgin at Bartlett, 6 p.m.: Two of the most athletic teams in the area collide in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover.

Streamwood at Waubonsie Valley, 6 p.m.: The host Warriors have won five straight since a 2-point loss to Oswego in the season opener.

St. Edward (2-3, 0-1) at Guerin (0-5, 0-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Green Wave intend to snap a three-game losing streak against the winless Gators in a Suburban Christian Conference Gold meeting in River Grove.

Larkin at Metea Valley (4-2), 6 p.m.: The Royals meet the Mustangs for the first time in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover. Metea Valley’s non-senior lineup will actually be older than the Royals, who competed Tuesday with two sophomores and a freshman in the lineup.

Hampshire (3-2) at Belvidere (2-3), 7 p.m.: The Whip-Purs should be energized after definitively halting Winnebago’s 61-game regular-season winning streak. Hampshire has won 3 straight.
