Larkin splits: Maggie Hoffman scored a game-high 21 points Saturday as the Larkin girls basketball team won its first game of the season, beating Polo 41-35 in the final round of the Oregon Thanksgiving tournament.
Allison Dreskill added 9 points for the Royals (1-4), who earlier in the day lost to Milledgeville 50-39. Hoffman had 12 points to lead Larkin in that game.
Bartlett 78, Joliet 29: Thirteen Hawks scored points as Bartlett rolled to an easy win at the Naperville Central/Benet tournament. Jacki Gulczynski led the way with 14 points, while Haley Videckis had 10 and Ashley Johnson and Christina Carlson added 8 each for the Hawks (2-0).
Huntley 63, Naperville North 44: Huntley got 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals from Kadie Lowery and 16 from CeCe Tsevas to win its season opener at the WarHawk Tournament at Waubonsie Valley. Carly Goede added 9 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the Red Raiders and Mercedes Kennedy had 7 rebounds.
Westminster Christian 51, Providence St. Mel 26: The Warriors won their season opener behind 10 points each from Whitney Vander Bos and McKaila Hays. Hays also had 4 assists and Vanden Bos 4 steals.
Hononegah 82, Dundee-Crown 50: Diamond Williams had 16 points for the Chargers (0-4) in this loss at the Dundee-Crown tournament. Ali Sanders added 13 points for D-C.
Woodstock 57, Elgin 44: At the Burlington Central tournament, Bri Hamilton scored 19 points and Jill Howe added 11 for Elgin (0-3).
Sycamore 35, Burlington Central 30: The Rockets (3-2) had a tough time scoring in this loss at their own tournament. Brenda Thasavong led BC with 8 points and Catherine Kaynish had 6.
Streamwood 43, CL South 31: Jessica Mitchell scored 14 points and Emma Schmidt had 10 to lead Streamwood (2-0) to a win at the Dundee-Crown tournament. Brittany Pitas had 24 points to lead CL South (0-3).
Cary-Grove 53, St. Viator 42: The Jakubicek sisters led the way for the Trojans as they won at the Dundee-Crown tournament to move to 3-0 for the season. Olivia Jakubicek scored 18 points for Cary-Grove and her senior sister Claire had 16, leaving her 72 points away from tying Eve Barry's Cary-Grove career scoring record.
