Lake County boys soccer roundup
Senior Day proved to be quite a good day for Mundelein's boys soccer team.
Playing their final home game of the season, the Mustangs blanked Elmwood Park 7-0 Saturday, with senior Javier Ramirez scoring the first of his 2 goals just 32 seconds into the nonconference match off an assist from Matt Hurley.
Ramirez assisted Hurley for a 2-0 lead, and goals by Ramirez and Alejandro Terrazas had the hosts up 4-0 by intermission.
Gabriel Marcos, Eder Alcantar and John Dimitriou added second-half strikes for Mundelein (9-7-4), which has regular-season games remaining at Highland Park (Tuesday) and Deerfield (Thursday).
Mustangs senior keeper Matt Iwaniuk made 3 saves in earning the shutout. Daniel Marcos, Alex Nambo and Alcantar also had assists.
Prairie Ridge 2, Grant 1: Andrew Noda scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs in the nonconference game.Anthony Pecorino had 11 saves in net for Grant (9-10).Warren 4, Lake Forest Academy 4: Michal Szczepanek, Ryan Foster, Auner Solis and Brandon Brown scored for Warren in the nonconference game.Danny Szczepanek had 3 assists for Warren (11-5-5), and Leon Mardehow also had an assist for the Blue Devils, who host Round Lake in the North Suburban Conference championship game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.Carmel 5, St. Patrick 1: Aaron Ogunro, Jimmy Ryan, Shane Heinrich, Jack Stefanski and Shane Einloth scored for the Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic Conference match.Blake Quaiyoom, Justin Gibbons, Stefanski and Ryan each had an assist, while keeper Ryan May made 3 saves for Carmel (10-8, 5-1).
