Eventally, Libertyville solves Mundelein

Libertyville's boys soccer team played quietly in the first half, but in the second half found the goal easily and often to defeat visiting Mundelein 4-1 in North Suburban Lake Division action Tuesday night.

Keenan Busse and Joey Ruppert scored the first goals, both assisted by Austin Bitta. Tyler Gillespie and Jay Russo added two, both assisted by Marshall Hollingsworth. Andrew Bitta made 5 saves for Libertyville (14-1-1).

Javier Ramirez scored his 18th goal for Mundelein (7-5-3). The Mustangs' Matt Iwaniuk made 10 saves.

Warren 1, Lake Zurich 0: Brandon Brown scored in the second minute of the North Suburban Lake match, volleying Ryan Foster's cross into the net.

Brady Walsh made 11 saves in earning the shutout for Warren (8-5-3, 2-1).

Lake Zurich fell to 9-5-1, 2-2.

Antioch 2, Grant 0: Juan Perez put the Sequoits on the board in the first half with a penalty kick. Ryan Geidner added the second goal, assisted by Billy Mohr. Alex Grimm had 8 saves to earn the shutout for Antioch (12-2-2) in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Anthony Pecorini made 10 saves for Grant (9-4, 2-2).

Lakes 4, North Chicago 1: Lucas Istabanec scored in the first minute after a long throw-in by Mat Dexheimer. Tom Langbein scored twice for the Eagles, and Brian Wercheck added a goal and an assist. Matt Whipple and Scott Brugioni also had assists.

Roberto Tre Re had 6 saves for Lakes (5-7-4, 2-0-1).

Round Lake 8, Vernon Hills 2: The Panthers scored four goals in the first half and added four more the second to defeat the Cougars in North Suburban Prairie action.

Mauricio Salgado scored first and also had two assists. Andres Gomez, Edgar Rodriguez and Osvaldo Rio also scored in the first half.

Emanuel Salgado and Lorenzo Cortez added a goal each in the second half, and Eduardo Sanchez scored the final 2 goals for Round Lake.

Jordi Rubio had 3 assists. Armando Alvarez added an assist.

Both Cougar goals were scored by Evan Borden and assisted by Jeremy Cohen. Andy Clark made 13 saves for Vernon Hills (2-11-1, 0-3-1).
