Wednesday's Fox Valley roundup

Evan Baker scored 2 goals, both off assists from Eric Wilde, as Cary-Grove's boys soccer team shutout Crystal Lake Central 3-0 Wednesday in Fox Valley Conference action.

Jacob Cunningham, off an assist from Aidan McCarthy, scored the other goal for the Trojans (4-2-1, 4-2), who got 6 saves in goal from Tom Breen.

"I'm happy with the way we played tonight," said Cary-Grove coach Mark Olson. "We played great defensively."

Burlington Central 2, Marmion 2: Christopher Gousios scored both BC goals as the Rockets (8-3-1) tied Marmion in the St. Charles East tournament. Paul Jerger and Grant Stoneman had assists for Central, while Michael Parker had 3 saves in goal and Matthew Dahlberg one.

Hampshire 3, Harvard 1: Hampshire put the Big Northern East into a logjam with this win over Harvard. Andrew Obmalay, Ismael Morales and Jason Bishop scored for the Whip-Purs, who moved into a first-place tie with Burlington Central and Harvard. Morales and Obmalay each had assists for Hampshire (8-4-1, 4-1) as did Francisco Solis. Marcus Quick made 9 saves in goal.

South Elgin 10, Winnebago 1: EJ Hernandez, Mike Kozielek and Miguel Valle scored 3 goals each to lead South Elgin (6-4-2) to this rout in the Hampshire tournament. Vince Szalay, Ryan Piszczek, David Velazquez and Jeremy Weber had the other goals for the Storm, while Andrew Perry and Jared Scheiler combined for 2 saves in goal.

Dundee-Crown 3, Prairie Ridge 2: Miguel Conejo, Rigo Garcia and Juan Lopez scored goals for the Chargers in this Fox Valley Conference win. Scott Nowicke had 6 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown.

Westminster Christian 4, Rockford Christian Life 1: Josh Beachler scored twice and Pierce McKenna and Tim Rodgers added single goals to lead the Warriors (6-4-1, 3-1) in the Northeast Athletic Conference. Ian Dutcher had 7 saves in goal for Westminster.
