McHenry 3, Dundee-Crown 2: Dundee-Crown scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but the Warriors (18-6, 13-3) held on for the win to remain alone atop the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference by 1 game. Chargers starting pitcher Zack Vodicka (4-2) allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 7 innings but took the loss. Scott Nowicke (2-for-4, RBI), freshman Dylan Kissack (2-for-2) and junior Kirk Hanselmann (1-for-2, double) led the offense for Dundee-Crown (10-16-1, 7-9).
Huntley 7, Cary-Grove 2: The Red Raiders erupted for 5 runs in the top of the fourth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and held on for the win behind a complete-game effort from starting pitcher Jake Staab (3-1), who allowed no earned runs and 5 hits. Chris Klein (2 RBI), Carlos Alvarez (2-for-3, 2B, 2 runs) and Tom Crohan (2-for-3, 2B) led at the plate for Huntley (19-6, 12-4), which won a battle of second-place teams to remain a game behind McHenry with 8 games to play in the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference.
John Spoelstra (2-2) took the loss after allowing 5 runs (3 earned) with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in 31/3 innings for Cary-Grove (16-10, 11-5), which slipped 2 games back of McHenry.
Waubonsie Valley 5, Bartlett 1: Bartlett jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Warriors scored 3 runs in the third against losing pitcher Mike Tomsovic en route to the Upstate Eight victory in Bartlett.
St. Francis 8, St. Edward 6: The Spartans scored 2 runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie, added 3 runs in the seventh and survived a 3-run rally by the Green Wave in the bottom of the seventh to win a Suburban Christian Conference crossover game at Wing Park in Elgin. Sophomore Luke Duffy doubled and drove in 2 runs, and senior Jon Godfrey (2-4) took the loss for St. Edward (12-17, 5-11).
Westminster suspended: The Warriors (21-8) led Rockford Christian 10-8 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and were 2 strikes away from an official game when lightning forced a suspension in Rockford.
