Wednesday's Fox Valley roundup

Brandi Hernandez, Hannah Perryman, Jenna Jaynes and Samantha Doty each had 2 hits Wednesday as the Elgin softball team notched a 6-3 Upstate Eight Conference win over Waubonsie Valley.

Jaynes drove in 3 runs for the Maroons and Perryman had an RBI as well. Perryman (9-7) also picked up the win in the circle for Elgin (10-18, 4-9). She struck out nine and walked seven.

Elgin hosts crosstown rival Larkin today at 4:30 p.m.

St. Charles East 11, Streamwood 0: Jen Mellenthin had a double for the Sabres (5-20, 1-11) in this Upstate Eight loss. Jenna Szabo was Streamwood's losing pitcher.

St. Edward 5, Rosary 0: The Green Wave (17-13, 8-5) played error-free softball and Sarah Field (14-9) tossed a 5-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in winning this Suburban Christian Conference game at the Elgin Sports Complex. Maddie Kerr hit a home run and Field had a double for St. Edward, which lost to Rosary 10-0 on April 20. Kristina Brockner was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Wave, while Veronica Rolando was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Jacobs 14, Woodstock North 3: Jacobs' perfect week continued with this Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Kara Arceneaux was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run for the Golden Eagles (14-7) while Jenna Teson continued her torrid week by going 3-for-4. Teson is now 10-for-11 in Jacobs' 3 games this week. Amber Livingston (5-4) picked up the win in the circle, allowing 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Cary-Grove 15, Grayslake Central 1: Alexis Haley was 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI as the Trojans (19-6) rolled to an easy FVC crossover win. Abbe Wienckowski also homered for Cary-Grove, while Emma Gaulke and Amy Fitzgerald were each 2-for-3. Gaulke (3-2) earned the win, allowing 5 hits.

Prairie Ridge 9, Huntley 0: The Red Raiders' tough offensive week continued as PR's Kirsten Stevens shut them down on just 5 hits. Arianna Albanese had 2 hits including a double for Huntley (15-8). Taylor Larson (13-6) suffered the loss.
